Example Learner Contract

This is the contract that the Learners came up with for the 2021/2022 School year in the Middle Studio. It is an excellent example of what we ask our Learners to write and the accountability we ask them to take as they craft their own set of rules and governance.

We the Learners of Chisholm Creek Academy promise to follow the rules of the studio as we are on a Hero’s Journey to success. I promise to do my best to keep the studio sacred. By signing this, I understand that I am now bound by these rules and will be held accountable to them.

RULES

• I promise to be kind and helpful to my studio mates.

• I promise to not take or touch people’s things without their permission.

• I promise to use excellence and do the best in everything I do.

• I promise to keep up with all my work and have everything I need done by the end of every session.

• I promise to be a victor and not a victim.

• I promise to not use my phone during school hours unless it’s an emergency.

We the Learners of Chisholm Creek Academy swear to abide by the rules of the contract, to be on a Hero’s Journey, and to keep the Studio sacred. As I sign this contract I agree to these rules and understand that if I do not follow them, the studio council will give me a punishment that they see fit for my actions. I understand that if I get Three strikes I will be expelled from the studio due to not being able to keep it sacred. As I sign this contract I understand that I am now a Learner of this studio and I will, to the best of my ability, keep this place sacred.
